I am currently working as a 3D Technical Director (TD) for Framestore CFC in London.
At the moment I am the Lead Crowds TD for our work on the the feature film Troy, starring a pretty impressive cast including Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom and Eric Bana. I have been developing a custom crowd system for Maya and a bunch of other tools and techniques for the job. I'll definitely be posting a lot of 'Making Of' material about my involvement in the project here when it is complete (some time after March 2004).
My current plan is to live in the UK for the next few years to build up some experience and travel as much of Europe as possible. After that I'll move back home to Sydney in Australia for a bit before setting off again - most likely to work in the USA or Canada for a couple of years. For more info on where I've been and where I'm heading in the visual effects world, please feel free to check out my online portfolio or my resume (PDF format).
As a TD, it is often my job to figure out how to do various things in 3D, and often these techniques are forgotten when the job is complete. So I'm going to start an advanced tips and tutorials section here as a means of putting some of my experiences 'out there' for the visual effects community.
Finally, here's a page of visual effects web links that I've collected over the years. Some of these are good to regularly check on for the latest news and happenings in the industry.
